The sun was shining and the water was perfect for Silver Lake Mennonite Camp's (SLMC) first Paddle the Grand Fundrasier on Saturday May 23, 2009. 40 canoeists ranging in age from 5 to 65 collected pledges for the 2 hour paddle from Waterloo Region's Westmont Rose to Kaufman Flats. The event, which has been conducted by Camp Squeach in BC for many years, was a great success raising over $20,000 for the camp. Dave Erb, SLMC's Director says "these funds will allow the camp to continue its important ministry to our youth and children"
SLMC's programs provide an enjoyable and supportive setting where Christian/Anabaptist values and teachings are emphasized. Community living, personal discovery, outdoor skills and learning to live sustainably with creation are of primary focus.
