Inclusion Program
The Inclusion Program facilitates the inclusion of children with special needs into the regular program with campers their own age. This gives an opportunity for those requiring more attention and care to participate and allows for learning and growth within the entire camp community.
In June, prior to the camp experience, our Inclusion Coordinator will contact the family to set up a visit (or a phone call) that includes the camper, where goals are set and expectations clarified for the camper's experience during their week at Silver Lake. This visit gives the camper some security (they will know someone and have already built a relationship with that person), as well as helping them to understand what they can expect of the staff and fellow campers they will meet.
If you think that your child may benefit from such a visit, please indicate your interest in the Inclusion Program on the application form so the Inclusion Coordinator will contact you in June.
NOTE: This program is not designed for children with severe behavioural problems. Our facilities are not wheelchair accessible. If you would like information or have questions about including your child in our camp program, please call us. |
